By crafting strategic, elegant designs, I help my clients bring their unique vision to life, allowing them to confidently show up, stand out, and thrive in a crowded marketplace.
If you’ve ever Googled your business name only to find nothing, or worse, your competitor’s website ranking higher than yours then this blog is for you. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) can feel like an overwhelming, techy mystery, but it doesn’t have to be.
The good news is If you’re using Showit for your website (which, by the way, I swear by, more on that in my blog about Why I swear by Showit for service-based businesses), you already have a solid foundation to make SEO work for you. You just need to know what to focus on and where to start. This guide will walk you through simple, non-techy steps to help your Showit website start ranking on Google, so your ideal clients can actually find you.
Before we dive in, let’s tackle some of the most common questions business owners have about Showit and SEO:
Yes! Showit is fully capable of ranking on Google, as long as your SEO settings are optimized properly (which we’ll cover in this post).
Not necessarily, Showit pages have built-in SEO settings, but if you blog, your blog runs on WordPress which is great for SEO. A well-optimized Showit site + WordPress blog can rank even higher.
It could be that Google hasn’t indexed your site yet, or your SEO settings aren’t optimized. Don’t worry, we’ll go over how to fix this.
Absolutely! Showit gives you full control over SEO titles, descriptions, image alt text, and heading structure, all necessary for ranking well on Google.
100%! This blog is designed for business owners who aren’t SEO experts. I’ll walk you through the easiest ways to optimize your Showit website without feeling overwhelmed.
Now that we’ve covered those Showit SEO questions, grab your coffee (or wine, I don’t judge), and let’s break down how to make SEO simple, effective, and even a little fun.
One of the biggest mistakes I see with SEO? People assume their website is automatically showing up on Google. But unless you tell Google your site exists, it might not be indexed properly (or at all).
If your site isn’t indexed, your SEO doesn’t matter, because no one can find you! This is the first step before anything else.
Every page on your site has two crucial elements that show up in Google search results:
SEO Title → This is the bold blue link you click on Google and also what shows up in your browser tabs.
Meta Description → The short snippet underneath the title.
If these aren’t optimized with keywords, Google has no idea what your site is about, and neither do your potential clients.
Every single page on your website should have a unique SEO title and meta description. If you’re looking for these settings in Showit just click on the page you want to edit in the left side panel then find SEO settings on the right side panel and edit away.
If your website is a needle in a haystack, keywords are what help Google find the needle. Your goal should be to figure out what your ideal clients are searching for and then use those words on your website.
Here’s a tip: Instead of broad keywords like “wedding photographer”, use long-tail keywords like “timeless wedding photography for modern brides.” These are easier to rank for and attract more targeted traffic.
Search engines prioritize structured content, and the way your headings are set up tells Google what’s important on each page. Think of it as one of those outlines our English teachers made us do in school before we wrote an essay or paper.
You can find all of these settings in your Showit website by clicking on a text box and navigating the right hand panel under Text Properties where you can choose the Text Tag for that piece of content.
If your website loads too slowly, Google may lower your rankings.
Google and other search engines can’t “see” images the way we do, so they rely on file names and alt text to understand what the image is about.
SEO isn’t only about your website pages and content. Blogging is one of the fastest ways to rank higher and drive more traffic.
A few tips for writing your blog:
SEO isn’t an overnight fix, but once it’s in place, it can drive traffic to your site for years to come. The key? Consistency.
And if this all sounds like a lot, I get it. That’s why I help business owners optimize their websites and create an SEO strategy that actually works.
